There is a Discovery Museum that is great for kids but remember this is small bright and clean but doesn't hold the adults interest well. It does have over 100 'hands on' things to do as well as an art gallery. For a more relaxed day out go to Lake Mohegan Recreation Area as here there is freshwater, to swim in, and there are picnic areas and some nice walking or hiking trails.
Beardsley Zoological Gardens has been running for over 75 years and it is the only zoo in Connecticut and is working with other zoos on SSP, Species Survival Plan. Children will like this and so will the adults. Fancy more water fun? Then go to Seaside Park Beach where there is sand and water but there are also picnic tables and restrooms.
There is a skateboard park as well as baseball diamonds for you to use. Captain's Cove Seaport is good for a look around with odd little shops and some really nice places to eat at, that are different. From here you can do a scenic harbour cruise.

The lounge is open 24 hours for the guests to enjoy. All rooms have some really nice bedding and the beds are comfortable with room, in the room, to not feel boxed in. Eating here is easy and there is a Park City Grill that offers good cuisine. Here they serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The lounge/ bar is called the Blue Martini and offers the guest a good place to sit with friends and have a good well made drink.

The lobby offers the guests a place to have coffee and meet friends. There is a concierge desk and here there is an evening turndown service. There is also a gift/ newsstand for the guests to use. This hotel offers room service from 6am till 11pm.
Here you can have a choice of place to eat at, within the hotel, and these are J. Porter's Restaurant that is open for all main meals, J. Porter's Lounge/ Bar that offers the guest a great place to have a drink or have light fair, to eat.
Then there is 'On The Rox' that is a seasonal, outside, bar grill next to the outdoor pool. This hotel offers the guest more than one pool so you have an indoor pool as well as the seasonal outdoor pool; there is also a whirlpool for the guest to use. A fitness room offers the guest the basics for their fitness routine on-site. The rooms are bright and clean with good amenities and there is a concierge level.
